Richard Gregory Welsh

July 26, 1989 — May 17, 2026

Peoria

Richard Gregory Welsh, age 36, left this earth surrounded by his three favorite women, his mom, Sandy, and his sisters Amanda and Lee Welsh (Tyler Bodish). He leaves behind his favorite nephew, Connor Welsh-Kuhn. He passed away May 17th at the family cabin in Indiana.

He was proceeded in death by his dad, Ed Welsh, and grandparents Pat & Dick Adamson and Gini Welsh.

Richard spent his life as a Peorian. He went to St. Mark's Grade School and then Peoria Notre Dame, where he graduated in 2007.

After high school, Rich attended Bradley University where he received his Bachelor's in Science. Not only creative, Rich was incredibly smart too. He worked at the Riverfront Musuem before deciding to pursue a job at Bradley University as a networking engineer. He worked there for 10 years before he retired in 2025 due to his illness.

His entire life revolved around his family and friends. Although too many to mention, it's a true testament of how much he love he received and how much love he gave. His biggest passions were going to music festivals with friends, movies, books, video games, Warhammer, creating and working on the A.J. Robertson statue, which was modeled after Rich's physical build. His love for all animals was unparalleled and he never met an animal that didn't immediately love him. His sense of humor was wickedly smart and quick. His wit would get anyone bellyrolling. He was the funniest human most of us ever had the pleasure of knowing. The amount of time he made us laugh until we cried was the best gift we ever received from him.

Rich is being cremated through Halo Cremations in Columbus, IN. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date in Peoria, IL. He will be immensely missed by all of us.
