Randy Clay Shelton, 72, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on January 26, 2026.

Born in Shelbyville, Indiana, Randy built a life defined by curiosity, craftsmanship, and quiet generosity. He had many jobs over his life but his most memorable tenure was an aerospace engineer with Rolls Royce and Belcam. His work reflected the same precision and ingenuity he brought to everything he did.

Randy was known for his warm wit, his kind heart, and the way he could make anyone feel welcome. He had a lifelong passion for crafting knives—each one unique, each one made with patience and pride. Friends and family will remember him as funny, thoughtful, and steadfastly devoted to the people he loved.

Randy is preceded in death by his father John Shelton, Mother Margaret McDaniel. Brother Chuck Shelton, and sister Jamie Teo. Randy is survived by his children: Joshua (Jennifer) Shelton, Kyle (Christina) Shelton, and Ashley (Joshua) Maze; Sister Gwen Lewis, and by his four beloved grandchildren: Dylan Shelton, Sarah Chambers, Celia Maze, and Dominik Shelton. He leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and craftsmanship that lives on in each of them.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held tentatively on Saturday, March 7, 2026, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the Horseman’s Camp in Brown County. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor his memory in a place he loved.
