Nancy Burgess

Nancy Burgess of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed peacefully February 22nd at 6:48 P.M. in Randallia hospice at the age of 75 leaving a sister, Connie Holzheuer, and several nieces and nephews.

Born on June 4, 1949. She was daughter of proud parents Charles and Norma Burgess. She grew up in Huntington, and graduated from Huntington North High School in 1967.

Nancy was a long-time classic car and truck enthusiast. She was also a master tactician in finding her nieces and nephews the "it" toy that was impossible to find for birthdays and Christmases.

Nancy was recognized by the Fort Wayne Woman's Bureau for many years as a run, jane, run volunteer scorekeeper.

After graduating with a degree in Mental Health Rehabilitation Technology, she found her true calling in life. Nancy devoted her professional life to serving and improving the lives of mild to moderate handicapped individuals spanning group home and institutional settings. She also provided her clients a family setting for Thanksgiving and Christmas if needed, by bringing them with her to her own family celebrations.

Long known as "The Traffic Mama" at The Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, aka Michfest in Oceana County Michigan, she found order in chaos directing parking and camping areas and enjoyed serving her fellow music lovers.

At Nancy's request, there was no viewing. A private service was held.
