Monica was baptized at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church on June 6, 1998. Monica was so driven & intelligent. After high school, she continued her education at Martin University. She also pursued her passion for the medical field and attended nursing school later in life. In Monica’s earlier years, she was an exceptional caregiver. She worked for a home health care company, a group home and a couple of different hospitals. Monica loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She would cook her favorite dishes such as her famous African Stew. Monica was a soul who enjoyed sunrises, outdoors, crafting and creating personalized and unique Tshirts, wine glasses, coffee mugs, tote bags, and waist beads. When she had the opportunity to enjoy life, she enjoyed traveling, roller coasters, shopping, concerts, the Smokey Mountains and her beloved Florida beaches. Later in life, Monica’s adventurous spirit landed her in Jacksonville, Florida. She was proud of her accomplishments and the life that she created for herself.

Monica was survived by her mother, Eva Rowan; her sons, Kevin D. Tucker Jr. and Darian L. Tucker; her life long friend, Kevin D. Tucker Sr.; her brothers Tim (Kelly) Rowan, Ellis (Nailah) Rowan III and Greg (Leanne) Rowan; her three loving sisters, Audra Rowan, Brittany Rowan and Spring Rowan. Each of them carries life long beautiful memories and meaningful moments of a daughter, sister, mother, Mimi, aunt, cousin and friend.

Monica “Moco” Rowan’s legacy will live on through the lives that she touched, through those that she cared for, through those who she inspired and especially through those who knew her well enough to experience the love and the light that she shared. 54 years went by way too quickly. However, Moni’s sweet and loving spirit will always and forever inspire us and uplift us, reminding us to love deeply and to cherish every moment.
