It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michelle Renee Wilson, a beloved mother, cherished grandmother, sister and friend. Michelle departed this world on April 16th, 2026 after a courages battle with illness. Michelle was born on August 12th, 1975 , in Muncie, Indiana, to Marsha and Robert Wilson, who predeceased her, along with her unborn granddaughter Hope Wilson and cherished god parents Kitty and Jerry Cowgill.
Michelle’s life was a tapestry woven with the love and care she extended to everyone around her. She was devoted mother of Kaya (Damon) Goetz, Wyatt (Lisa) Wilson, and Jayxen Wilson. She was also the proud grandmother to six adoring grandchildren; Braylynn, Denver, Briella (Ella), Charlotte (Charlie), Tobias (Toby) and Maeve. Her life partner; Matthew (Jay) Wilson, stood by her side through thick and thin, sharing in the joys and challenges of life.
Michelle’s nurturing spirit was evident from a young age. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1994, pursued her passion for psychology with an associate degree from Front Range in 2007, and furthered her education with a bachelor degree from Regis University in 2009. She should also be noted to have almost completed a master degree in Criminology. Her career was dedicated to the care and enrichment of young lives. For many years, she operated an in-home child care service, creating a warm and loving environment for countless children until 2013. In 2016, she embraced the role of grandmother with open arms, continuing to watch over her grandchildren with the same devotion and love.
Family was the cornerstone of Michelle’s life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, capturing precious moments through her passion for photography. She was an avid collector with a fondness for Winnie the Pooh, Elephants and Blue Glass. Treasures that reflected her whimsical and caring nature.
Michelle was a beacon of kindness, known for lighting up a room with her smile. Her comforting presence and infectious laughter which brought joy to everyone she met. Her compassionate heart extended beyond family, touching the lives of many friends who cherished her dearly.
Michelle was an unorthodox Christian, often sighting her relationship with God as a friendship. She was naturally curious in nature, who often found comfort in exploring all spiritual walks of life, celebrating everyone’s individual beliefs and finding unity within everyone’s hearts. She did this by always enjoying family get togethers, holidays with friends and loved ones. She also enjoyed music, most notably dancing and singing along with her grandchildren who she called her “littles”.
Michelle leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her brother Anthony (Lisa) Wilson, her sister Therese Lutkus, her brother Robert (Bobby) Wilson, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In honor of Michelle’s life and her indomitable spirit, donations can be made to Lipodystrophy United, an organization close to her heart, at [https://lipodystrophyunited.org/]
As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman who touched so many lives we take solace in the words of Winnie the Pooh; “If there every comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” Michelle Renee Wilson will forever remain in our collective hearts, a loving presence that time can never erase.
Memorial services to be announced at a later date by family.
