Michael Steven "Steve" Sipes

**Michael Steven “Steve” Sipes, 68, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026. **

Born on May 8, 1957, in Columbus, Indiana, Steve was the son of Marvin and Charlene Sipes. He spent his early working years as an electrician’s assistant and later retired as a maintenance man from a local hotel, where he was known for his reliability and willingness to lend a hand.

Steve had a lifelong love of collecting — tools, movies, and Zippo lighters were among his favorites. He was the person family members called when they needed help; he never hesitated to show up, fix something, or offer support. His two dogs, Brandy and Puppy, were constant companions and brought him great joy.

Steve is survived by his brothers Mark (Debbie) Sipes of Scipio, Jon Sipes (Cynthia Knight) of North Carolina, and Casper (Christine) Sipes of Scipio, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind countless friends; Steve had a way of making people feel welcome, and everyone who met him felt his kindness.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lova and Ada Sipes, his parents Marvin and Charlene Sipes, his sister Nancy Baker, and his brother Danny Sipes.

A private ceremony will be held at Hawcreek Baptist Cemetery, where Steve will be laid to rest.
