Linda Hall

March 8, 1947 — September 7, 2025

“Bravery is not loud, but quiet, steadfast, and often paired with a good laugh—a trait she carried through life and lovingly passed on to her children, who carry it forward in their own hearts and actions.”

Linda Catherine Hall, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

The youngest of four children born to Alberta (Sac) and Earl Menefee in Coffeeville, Kansas, Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Mary Lou (Donny) Williamson, Tom (Della) Menefee, and Steve (Sandy) Menefee; and her daughter, Susan Fernandez.

Linda attended River Forest High School and, in 1963, married her beloved husband of 62 years, John Thomas Hall. Together, they built a life filled with love, partnership, and family devotion.

She and John raised their family on a harness racing horse farm, where Linda’s hands- on care and gentle guidance helped train the horses she loved. Her compassion extended to all creatures, and she had a special love for her dogs. She also found joy in tending her garden, bird watching and escaping into the pages of a good book. In her later years, she shared her sharp mind and steady patience working in the computer department at Ivy Tech, where she was respected and admired.

Linda is survived by her children: Nancy Balcerak (Butch), Mary Hawkins (Mike), Christine Creech (Stephen), Catherine Smith (Shawn), and John Hall; and her grandchildren: Matthew, Brittney, Tiffany, Michael, Aubrey, Ben, Bridget, Kailene, Megan, David, Adam, Max, and Eli, along with her great grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle humor touched everyone she met. Linda’s love, wisdom, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Linda’s life was a gift to all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to shine in the love she shared and the memories she leaves behind.

A memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held on November 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Valparaiso, IN. A luncheon will follow at end of service.
