Larry D. Hearth, age 80, of Kirksville, Indiana, passed away on August 5, 2026.
Larry was born on January 10, 1946, in Kirksville, Indiana, to Andrew and Juanita (Lewis) Hearth. He was a lifelong resident of the Kirksville community.
Larry dedicated many years of his life to serving others through the volunteer fire service. He was one of the founding members of the Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department and remained an active member until his retirement. His commitment to the department and his community was an important part of his life and legacy.
He also worked for many years at Rumpke, later Hoosier Disposal, before retiring.
He is survived by his former wife and longtime friend, Linda (Goodman) Hearth, who continued to care for and support him even after their marriage ended; his sister-in-law, Doretta (Gregory) Hearth; his niece, Carmen Jones; and his great-nephew, Anthony Jones, and Anthony’s wife, Andrea (Borders) Jones, who lovingly cared for Larry during his final days. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, fellow firefighters, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Juanita (Lewis) Hearth; his brother, Jerry D. Hearth; his sisters, Betty (Hearth) Edwards and Mary Catherine Hearth; his brother-in-law, Donald Edwards; his niece, Brenda Arthur; and his nephew, Jerry Dean Hearth Jr.
Larry will be remembered for his years of service to his community and for the relationships he shared with those who remained close to him throughout his life.
Larry will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced by the family once arrangements have been finalized.
