Lael Allen, age 50 of Waddy, Kentucky passed away in the early hours of August 20th, 2024, after enduring a cardiac event in his home.
Lael was born January 24th, 1974, in Long Beach, California as the first of three children to Gerald and Arlene Allen. After graduating from Kentridge High School (Kent, WA) in 1992, Lael spent some time at Green River College before enlisting in the United States Navy. Prior to his departure, Lael married Tami Disbrow in February 1995, with whom he enjoyed the next 29 years until his passing. While in the Navy, Lael was a submariner aboard the U.S.S. Alaska. A severe injury while playing basketball for the Navy ended Lael’s military career earlier than anticipated, which he would cite as a blessing given the arrival of his son Caleb, in 1995, followed by his daughter Lily, in 1998. Lael would pursue an apprenticeship as an electrician following his discharge from the Navy, which led to his eventual work in datacenter and critical facilities management, the field he would remain in until his final day. Lael and Tami would work together in their marriage shaping the lives of many, whether through their participation in youth leadership at church, or their children’s sports teams and hobbies among many other avenues of their lives. Lael’s experiences and relationships allowed for him to be a man of many talents, which he was always willing to use for the benefit of other people.
The oldest of three children, Lael was a family man through and through. His time and resources were consistently spent on providing a tremendous life for his loved ones. Lael was an avid motorcycle enthusiast for most of his life. In the last several years, Lael joined the Founding Sons Motorcycle Club – Long Rifle Chapter, of which he was very proud and worked hard to be involved in at any opportunity. This led to a continuation of his work in providing for others, as the Club often held fundraisers and rides to contribute or raise awareness toward a righteous cause. In addition to his enthusiasm for motorcycles, Lael was an avid sports fan and most of all a committed Seattle Seahawks fanatic. Whenever the opportunity arose, Lael would take his son Caleb to enjoy a live game and nearly every week of the NFL season, the two would meet to watch the Seahawks play. Lael also had a great appreciation for music. While he did not spend much of his own time playing instruments, he lived vicariously through his daughter Lily, as she learned to perform and pursue music at a high level. He also loved to attend concerts with his wife and children whenever possible.
Lael is survived by his wife Tami; His son, Caleb (Olla), two granddaughters, Eleanor and Lucille; His daughter, Lily (Lee Stout); His father, Gerald; His mother, Arlene; one brother, Zachary (Amy); one sister, Naomi (John).
Lael’s celebration of life will be held at his family’s home in Waddy, KY on Saturday September 14th, 2024, at 2:30p.m.
