September 6, 1957 — March 4, 2025

Kenneth Michael McGlashan, of Bloomington, Indiana, died on March 4, 2025, at the age of 67, following a year of serious heart related conditions.

Ken was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1957. His family moved around the country often. He grew up living in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Texas, where he graduated from High School in 1975. The only boy in a family with four sisters, he learned lots of practical skills from his father. He was an avid fisherman, barbeque master, auto mechanic and handyman who could fix anything. He was a lover of cats and dogs and a generous friend.

Ken enlisted in the Air force in 1976, where he served as a Radar Radio Specialist working on Air Control & Warning System Radar. After earning his college degree in HVAC, Ken went on to build a lifelong career as a Field Service Engineer, installing and repairing machine tools. In February 2025 he was recognized for his 25 years of service with Technical Equipment of Cincinnati. He was known by his coworkers and customers for his unfailing dependability and exceptional troubleshooting skills. His closest friends were his coworkers.

Ken was married to Marlene (Tucker) and together, they brought their daughter Charlene into the world. Ken was also stepfather to Marlene’s children, Mark and Jody Tucker from 1981 to 1987. Subsequently, Ken married Sherry (Raney) and was the stepfather to Sherry’s children, Dawn Browning and Valerie Edwards, from 1991 to 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Christine McGlashan (1991) and Kenneth Woerner McGlashan (2003), and his sister Marilynn Florence McGlashan (2019). He is survived by his daughter, Charlene Marie McGlashan and his sisters and brothers-in-law; Linda & Ian Adam, Betty & Alan Godlas, Lisa & Stephen Klow, and his longtime housemate Kevin Keith.

His ashes are buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sacred Heart Section, Lot 173, Northwest Grave, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, in the same lot as his mother Marie McGlashan and his sister Marilynn McGlashan.
