James Arthur Stogsdill was born August 10, 1942 on an army base in Macon, Georgia to US Army Master Sergeant Arthur Stogsdill and Hazel (Nelson-Brown) Stogsdill.
It wasn't long before his parents brought him back home to Bloomington, Indiana where he was raised on Stogsdill Road and on a farm with rich family history that he would come to love dearly.
It was in front of that farm, on his horse, that he first met a young girl named Victoria Bell. Victoria went home after that encounter and said that she had met the man that she was going to marry, and she did. James (Jim) and Victoria (Vickie) were married when he was 18 years old and she was 16 years old. The Lord blessed them with two healthy children. First, a boy Daniel (Danny) followed by a girl Donna. Jim also had two grandchildren, Brandy and James Daniel, and four great-grandchildren.
Jim would then launch a very successful business as a Custom Home Builder in the Greenwood/Center Grove area. He built many homes in many subdivisions. Some of these include Carefree, Eldorado, Hunters Pointe, Willow Lakes, Hickory Stick, Copperleaf, Valle Vista, a large house off Honey Creek Road and many more.
Once retirement came Jim wanted nothing more than to return to the family farm in Bloomington, Indiana. So, Jim and Vickie retired as farmers! He continued to work hard with his Vickie by his side.
Eventually, cancer found him, and cancer took him from us on August 22, 2025 at 3:05pm. It is a blessing that he was able to leave us in the home he loved, on the land he loved, and with his beloved Vickie by his side.
