Donald E. Luetke

November 29, 1949 — June 19, 2025

Donald (Don) E. Luetke Sr., 75, of Columbus, IN, passed away peacefully on June 19 at his home in Bloomfield, IN.

Don was born on November 29, 1949, in San Diego, CA, to George E. Luetke and Frances L. Williams. He was raised in Yuma, Arizona, and moved to Indiana at the age of 14 to serve in the Job Corps. He later began working at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, where he spent 32 years as an engine assembler before retiring.

Don will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his faith in Jesus Christ, and his kind and generous heart. He never met a stranger, was always ready to lend a hand, and loved working on cars, fixing things, and spending time outdoors.

Don’s favorite Bible verse was 1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” He lived that out daily in how he treated others.

He is survived by his children: Donnie Luetke, Robert (April) Luetke, Lenora Misner, and Christina (Eddie) Ragan; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sue Romero, and his first wife, Phyllis Bryant.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, June 25, at 3:00 p.m. at Journey Baptist Church in Bloomington, IN.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the hospice care team for their compassion, support, and excellent care during Don’s final days.
