Diana Lee Veritas, 79, of New Castle, Indiana passed away on April 7, 2025 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Diana was born October 2, 1945 in New Castle, Indiana to the late David D. and Ethel M. (Waters) Province. A 1964 graduate of Mt. Summit High School, she later earned an Associate degree in Secretarial studies from the Indiana Business College. After college, she married Dennis Kesterson and eventually moved to Richmond, Indiana. She enjoyed a long career working for the Social Security Administration, retiring twice.
In retirement, she liked being home and spending time with her family. She also loved volunteering, including at the AIDS Taskforce in Richmond. After years of consideration, Diana fulfilled her desire to convert to Catholicism. One of her fondest memories was the trip to Italy she took with her former husband. They explored beautiful, historic churches and stayed in a monastery.
She was known as being loving, kind and generous to those who knew her. Including her new friends she made during her stay at The Willows of New Castle.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Lawler (Mike) of Fort Wayne, brother Steven Province (Joan) of Middletown, sister Susan Phoenix of Muncie, grandchildren Elizabeth (Tanner) Elliott of Fort Wayne, Troy (Bailey) Kesterson of New Castle, Amanda Kesterson of Richmond, Amber Kesterson (Case Back) of Richmond, 6 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Diana was proceeded in death by her parents, son Eric Kesterson, former husband, brother David Province, and grandson Jonathan Lawler.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Summit Christian Church, 508 S. Walnut St, Mt. Summit, IN on May 10, 2025 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
