Delores Jean (Wedgeworth) Kemp was called to our heavenly home peacefully on July 5th, 2025, in Leitchfield, Kentucky after a two and a half year battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Delores was born in Providence, RI in 1953, and was raised by her loving parents Mary and Nathaniel Wedgeworth. She grew up in Spencer, Oklahoma and graduated from Dunjee High School in Oklahoma City, OK before moving on to study as an Administrative Assistant at the University of Wyoming. After relocating to Kentucky with her family, she became a member and the Minister of Music for State Street Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY for many years and later relocated to Scottsville, KY becoming a member and the Minister of Music for First Baptist Church Scottsville. She occupied a position with Dollar General Corporation as an Accounts Payable Specialist for over thirteen years and then dedicated her latter years to caring for others as a child care specialist and a caregiver before beginning her battle with cancer.
Delores was a devoted mother to Centel Jacobs Jr., Lezhon Paul Combs, and Victoria Kemp.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Wedgeworth Sr., her mother Mary Wedgeworth, and her brothers Nathaniel Wedgeworth Jr., and Lamont William Brady and is survived by her siblings Tim Brady, Gwendolyn McBride, Belinda Mason; her children Centel Jacobs Jr., Lezhon Combs, Victoria Kemp; and, her grandchildren Brandon Tooley, Casey Jacobs, Isaiah Combs, Naiomi Frye, and Natascha Frye who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
Delores was a remarkable woman who loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and all her might and all of her strength and now she will dwell in the House of the Lord forever more.
