Clara Hord

October 22, 1942 — March 26, 2026

Louisville

Clara Nelle (Clark) Hord professed faith in Christ and was baptized as a child. She was a member of Lowell Ave. Baptist Church in Campbellsville, but attended Buechel Park Baptist Church in Louisville with family in recent years. She was retired from JCPenney. Other jobs included running a home daycare, managing a fabric store, serving as a church secretary, and working for Drug Court.

She is survived by a son, David A. Hord of Greenwood, SC, and a daughter, Laura Hord Albovias (Rev. José Albovias) of Louisville, KY; and grandsons, Allen Hord of Chicago, IL, and Bradley Hord of Atlanta, GA; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edwards Hord; her father, George Allen Clark; her mother, Opal Watson Clark; brothers, Jerry A. Clark and Don W. Clark; and sister, Wilma Clark Abell.

Clara was happiest when going to church, being with her family and friends, caring for her flower beds, and loving the numerous dogs and cats she had over the years. She was also a talented seamstress, enjoyed painting, read voraciously, and was an excellent cook.

Please make expressions of sympathy to Buechel Park Baptist Church, 2403 Hikes Ln., Louisville, KY 40218, or to Woodstock Animal Foundation Adoptions, 843 Lane Allen Rd., Lexington, KY 40503.
