Charles "Charlie" Arthur O'Bryan,, of Louisville passed away on January 10, after battling cardiovascular disease with determination.
Charlie was born June 26, 1951 to Charles and Ramona O'Bryan in Louisville. He graduated from St. James, Flaget HS, and the University of Louisville.
He loved UL basketball and football, as well as Murray State sports, horse racing and writing country music songs.
Charlie had fond memories of his years working for Circuit Court Clerk Paulie Miller, and loved to recount his travels throughout the US while working in sales in the tool industry. If a city was mentioned, he would often remember when he was there, the weather, and the highway that he traveled.
Family and friends often comment on his big heart. Several cousins born within months or a year or so of him were like brothers and sisters, including his cousin Pat with whom he had weekly conversations, and also his cousin Debbi S., and Linda. With the arrival of his great-nieces and great-nephews, he chuckled at the notion that he was a great uncle.
Charlie cherished the hospitality of his cousins Veronica and John at their holiday meals, the summer gatherings at the home of his cousin Allen David, and the family reunions with the Gallagher and the Sims families. He was also blessed by the generosity of his friends Amy, Jim, Shaun, and Tommy. He appreciated the care and expertise of his doctor and nurses at Norton Audubon.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Sue. He is survived by his sisters, Josie and Donna and brother Larry, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Service will be held at St. James church on Edenside Ave., on Saturday, March 25 at 10 AM. Graveside interment is private. In lieu of flowers a donation could be made to Highlands Community Ministries in Charlie's memory.
