Carolyn Joyce (Rousseau) Collins

Bloomington, IN – Carolyn Joyce Collins, 78, passed away on December 24th. Born February 23, 1947, to John and Fahma Rousseau in Ann Arbor, Michigan, she graduated from Fort Wayne North High School in 1965. She then attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, before marrying John Collins on September 7, 1968 and moving to East Lansing, Michigan. After spending four years in Switzerland, the couple moved to Bloomington, Indiana.

Carolyn held a number of office manager and bookkeeping jobs in both East Lansing and Bloomington, the longest being with Sherlock Homes in Bloomington. But her real love was arts and crafts. In Switzerland she worked on knitting. In Bloomington, she did knitting, quilting, fabric hangings, church paraments and jewelry making. For many years until her passing, she carried on a card ministry, sending up to 1500 hand-made greeting, birthday and holiday cards per year to her friends and members of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.

Carolyn loved Broadway musicals, cruising and singing, being in church choirs the entirety of her married life. She also liked to host parties, particularly for Christmas tree decorating.

She is survived by one child: Megan Fackenthal (Jeremy).

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s UMC sometime in early Spring.
