Barbara Jean Pogue
October 1, 1938 – March 8, 2026
After a battle with Alzheimer’s, Barbara Jean (Dillon) Pogue went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2026.
She was born on October 1, 1938, in Bedford, Indiana, to Claude Everett and Eileen Harmony (Mitchell) Dillon. Barb was the second of six children. She attended school in Bedford and spent a large part of her life raising her family across south-central Indiana. Her focus was always on her family and her faith.
Barb worked as a court stenographer for many years and held several jobs after retirement, including working as a church secretary. For more than 42 years, she spent as much time as possible with her loving husband, Larry Pogue. The two traveled extensively, visiting several countries and all 50 U.S. states, and no one ever went hungry anywhere she went.
Barb and Larry were long-time volunteers with the Indy Honor Flight and enjoyed serving Hoosier veterans. She was especially known for her cinnamon rolls, pies, and cherry cheesecake. Her fried chicken and mashed potatoes were staples at family meals as well. She provided love, food, and fun through family gatherings, Sunday dinners, and birthday celebrations. She will be greatly missed.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Eileen Dillon; and her sisters, Sue (Woody) Wright and Nancy Chilcote.
Barb is celebrated and loved by those she leaves behind, including her husband, Larry Pogue; her sons, Dale (Debbie) True, Mike (Vanessa) True, and Kerry (Lori) True; stepchildren, Daryl (Karen) Pogue and Lisa (Tom) Martin; chosen son, Mike (Julie) Bush; grandchildren, Heather (Autumn) True, Jessica (Charles) Ingraham, Andrea (Caleb) Landis, Ashley True, Allyson True, Dillon True, Garrett Jones, Alisha (Justin) Nichols, Derrick Pogue, Kate (Ethan) Taulbee, and Ian (Hope) Martin; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Halle Ingraham, Hadley Landis, Connor, Elizabeth, Abigail, and Charlotte Nichols, Alexander and Oliver Pogue, and Hayes and Graham Taulbee, with Baby Martin to arrive soon; siblings, Debbie (Bob) Claprodt, Robert Dillon, and Mary (Dave) Kays; along with many nieces and nephews spanning multiple generations.
A celebration of life will be held at Town Center Church, 218 E. Main Street, Mooresville, Indiana, on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Indy Honor Flight, P.O. Box 10, Plainfield, IN 46168, or online at https://www.indyhonorflight.org/donate
