Amanda Gretchen Lydy

Amanda Gretchen Lydy, 61, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, with her life long friend Steve holding her hand until the very end. Born on August 14, 1964, in Bloomington, Amanda was the youngest of many children—a place in the family that shaped her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and deep appreciation for connection. 

Amanda was a soft-spoken and reserved woman who found joy in the simple, meaningful parts of life. She was a devoted animal lover, and her beloved dog, Jazzie, held a special place in her heart. Whether tending to animals or offering a kind word to those around her. 

An avid reader, Amanda could often be found with a book in hand or enjoying her favorite television series. These quiet pastimes brought her great comfort and peace throughout her life. 

Amanda was the proud mother of three children: Kara Lydy, Alexandrea Garrett, and Dakota Lydy. She cherished them deeply and carried tremendous pride in the people they became. 

Amanda is preceded in death by her sisters, Linda, Debbie, Becky as well as her brothers Richard, Tim and David. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Wade and Phinneas and all those whose lives were brightened by her gentle presence. 

Amanda will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and her unwavering love of animals and loved ones she held dear. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
