Adonis LaTroy Joseph was born on May 7th, 1984, in Gary, Indiana to Sharon Wright and Fulton Joseph. From an early age, he was known for his kind spirit, determination, humor, compassion, leadership and competitive nature. While the early years of his life were spent in Gary, Adonis moved to Mishawaka, Indiana in 1999, where he continued to develop lifelong values rooted in faith, family and friendship.
He was a graduate of the 2002 class from Mishawaka High School, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. Following graduation, he attended Wabash College earning a degree in History and forming friendships and memories that would remain close to his heart throughout his life. Adonis was also a member of the men’s basketball team 2004 through 2006. In 2004, he was named NCAC Player of the Week.
After college, Adonis proudly answered the call to serve his country by joining the National Guard. During his years of military service, he demonstrated honor, courage, and unwavering commitment to those alongside him. His service reflected the deep sense of duty and integrity that defined his character.
Following his military career, he continued his life of service through his work with the South Bend Police Department as a Police K-9 Handler from 2011 to 2018. As a dedicated law enforcement officer, Adonis served his community with professionalism, strength, and compassion.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Adonis was a devoted father, loving son, loyal friend, and cherished loved one. He enjoyed sports, spending time with his children and friends, traveling and enjoying life. He had a gift for making people laugh, helping others, storytelling and leaves behind countless memories that will forever be treasured.
On April 27th, 2026, Adonis gained his wings and entered eternal peace.
Adonis was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Wright.
He leaves behind his beloved children, Gavin, Lila, Jade and Lainey Joseph who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his loving father, Fulton Joseph and sister Serenity Joseph. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his best friends and brothers, Jermael King, Cory Pyle, & Clint Mauro, the Mauro family (John, Rose, Clint, Rocco and Megan), along with a host of family members, friends, colleagues, and loved ones.
Though his passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of all who loved him, we find comfort in the memories, laughter, love, and moments shared throughout his life. Adonis will be remembered not only for his service and strength, but for the impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him. As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also hold close the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the legacy that will continue through his children, family, and friends. May God surround all who mourn with peace, comfort, and healing in the days ahead.
