Richard Scott Overman

Richard Scott Overman, 67, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed from this life on Thursday, February 10, 2022. Rick is survived by his daughter Natalie, father William, brothers James (Monica) and David (Rita). Rick was preceded in death by his wife Anita and his mother Frances.
It was clear early on that Rick was a bright and curious child. He was mechanically and musically inclined. He began playing drums around age 13 and was quite good at working on cars long before he was able to legally drive one. Rick was the drummer in the Ben Davis High School stage band, an award-winning ensemble. He went on to play in various combos and big bands throughout most of his life. Rick worked as a mechanic at auto dealerships before migrating to machine shop work. He had worked for AMS Production Machining for a number of years and was employed there at the time of his passing.
Rick was a HAM radio operator, he was a computer geek, and he loved hot peppers and spicy food. Rick loved to cook and had a special passion for chili. He also loved to prepare meat in his smoker. Rick loved to tinker with all things mechanical - especially cars. He was also an animal lover and was passionate about his family and friends.
Rick had recently re-acquainted with his high school girlfriend, Becky. The two were recently engaged and had planned to marry.
There will be a celebration of life gathering for Rick on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M., at the venue 5 East in Mooresville, Indiana.

4/2/2022 - Brief visitation from 4:00 to 4:30 P.M. A service will begin at approximately 4:30 followed by food and conversation.
