Marguerite Ann Rabe

Marguerite Ann Rectenwald Rabe, age 94, of Mount Washington, KY passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Norton Hosparus Health Center in Louisville, KY. Born in Erie, PA on February 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Marguerite Carney Rectenwald. She graduated from East High (1945) and Villla Maria College (1949) in Erie and earned a Master's degree from Penn State University. She taught at several schools in Erie before she returned to her beloved East High in the Home Economics Department faculty. She moved to Louisville, KY in 1974 and taught at various schools in Jefferson and Bullitt Counties as well as working part time at several retail stores. She retired in her mid 70's from her position as a permanent substitute teacher at Nichols Elementary. She returned as a library volunteer at Nichols where she worked for several more years and continued her volunteer work at St. Luke Catholic Church into her early 90's. She was preceded in death by her sisters Rita Kantz and Eleanor Breen and her brother James Rectenwald as well as her son Michael Rabe and daughter Margaret Laughlin. Surviving are her daughters Patricia Rabe of Mount Washington, KY, Kathleen Rabe of Louisville, KY, and Sister Diane Rabe, OSB, Erie, PA; son Richard Rabe, wife Cynthia, Jefferson, OH; grandson Stacy Adams, wife Melanie, Taylorsville, KY; granddaughter Clara Adams of Mount Washington, KY; dear friends Carolyn, Jennifer, and Frank Lucchese and Norma Alvey all of Louisville; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4211Jim Hawkins Dr, Louisville KY 40229 on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
