Elizabeth Lowe

d. January 1, 2022

She was born at K-Mart. Or so the family joke went. Elizabeth Lowe was born in 1963 at Renton General Hospital which shortly thereafter was razed so that a K-Mart could be built on the site. At age five, she became Miss Sparky, winning a pageant for redheaded girls sponsored by the Renton Fire Department. She was active in Girl Scouts. For some reason the local high school was not a good fit for her. But she managed to climb the academic ladder by other routes, attending Satori Alternative School, Renton Vocational Technical Institute, South Seattle Community College, University of Washington, and finally Fordham University where she earned a Ph.D in philosophy and a Masters Degree in Library Science. Her book, The Contested Theological Authority of Thomas Aquinas was published in 2003 and is still used as a textbook for seminary students. She passed in 2022.
